General Terms
These terms apply to transactions between the customer and Silversmith Sigal (hereafter referred to as “Sigal” or “the company”), located at Hverafold 33, 112 Reykjavík, Phone: +354 867 8396.
In these terms, “customer” or “buyer” refers to the individual and/or legal entity paying for the services provided by the company. Buyers must be at least 18 years old to shop in the company’s online store, sigal.is.
Return Policy
Customers may return a product if it is undamaged, unused, in its original packaging, and accompanied by a warranty label. The general return period for products is 30 days. The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The company does not offer refunds for returned products but allows customers to exchange the product for another or receive a store credit. An exception to this applies to distance sales (such as online orders), where customers using this method have the right to a full refund within 30 days of purchase, provided the returned product meets the condition requirements. The company reserves the right to verify that the returned or exchanged item is in proper, original condition before finalizing the return within a reasonable time frame, not exceeding two weeks.
Warranty
The company’s warranties do not limit the rights established under consumer protection laws. Warranty for product defects complies with the Consumer Purchases Act 48/2003, starting from the purchase date. For sales of products to entities other than individuals (businesses), the warranty for defects is one year from the purchase date, in accordance with the Sale of Goods Act 50/2000. The warranty is only valid with proof of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, neglect, normal wear and tear, or aging of the product. If the customer suspects a defect, they should immediately store the item safely for inspection by the company. The company is not obligated to waive or share repair costs, provide discounts, or replace a product after the warranty period has expired. The company reserves the right to take a product to its workshop for inspection to assess whether it is genuinely defective. If a defect is confirmed, the company will repair or replace the item at no cost to the customer. In cases where a defect is found, the company is required to offer the customer a repair, replacement product, discount, or cancellation of the purchase, depending on the circumstances.
Online Orders, Product Delivery, Product Prices, and Shipping Costs
An online order becomes binding once registered on the company’s server, which occurs when the buyer confirms the purchase process on sigal.is. Orders are processed after payment is received within the selected delivery time frame. The buyer receives an email (if an email address was provided during the ordering process) once the order is ready for in-store pickup or handed over to the company’s shipping provider, Icelandic Post (Pósturinn) applying to the delivery, warranty, and transport of the product. The company assumes no responsibility for damage that may occur to the product in transit. If a product is damaged or lost after leaving Sigal. premises, the loss is the buyer’s responsibility. The company reserves the right to cancel an order, in whole or in part, if the product is out of stock. In these cases, the company will contact the customer, informing them of substitute products or changes to the order, after which the customer can either accept the proposal or cancel the order entirely. The company reserves the right to cancel orders due to incorrect price information or suspicion of fraudulent transactions. It also reserves the right to change prices or discontinue offering products without prior notice. The company may confirm orders by phone.
Product and Service Information
The company provides product information to the best of its ability. All product information is published with a disclaimer for potential errors in text, pricing, and images, whether published in print, broadcast, or online media. The product selection may vary between the company’s online store and physical stores.
Product Pricing
All prices in the online store include 24% VAT. In some cases, shipping costs are added to the order before payment. If the total order value exceeds ISK 5,000, the customer is entitled to free home delivery, limited to the delivery options provided by the company’s shipping provider. For shipments outside Iceland, customs and other fees may apply, as product prices on the website do not include such fees. Product prices may change without notice.
Privacy Policy
All personal information the company receives from customers is treated as confidential in accordance with the company’s privacy policy. Additional personal information beyond what is necessary to complete a transaction is not required. Personal information is used to fulfill services and deliver products to the buyer, complete transactions, and enable the company to offer customers value-added services, such as registration in the company’s loyalty club to receive email offers. The company’s cookie policy explains cookie use.
Dispute Resolution
If a customer wishes to make a suggestion or complaint, they should contact the company by emailing sigal@sigal.is. Efforts will be made to resolve disputes as promptly as possible, typically within 14 days of the company receiving formal notice. If the company and customer cannot reach an agreement, the customer may escalate the issue to the appropriate oversight authority, such as the Consumer Agency or the relevant government authority.
Effective Date
These terms are effective from October 31, 2022, until new terms come into effect. Version 1.2
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This agreement is governed by Icelandic law. Any disputes arising from it shall be brought before the District Court of Reykjavik.
